This Fall, AIA New York is joining force with Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) for a three-part certification course for AIANY members at the Center for Architecture. This program builds on the Quality Design principles established earlier this year with Harnessing the Power of Alternative Delivery: A Conversation on Quality Design

To learn more about DBIA and what the certification has to offer you as a design professional, this virtual info session will provide you with an opportunity to ask questions directly to leaders at DBIA—including Thomas Foley, DBIA National Board Chair and Commissioner of NYC DDC, Craig Covil, DBIA NY Metro Region Board Chair, and Gia Mainiero, Vice Chair of DBIA National Design Professionals Committee and Partner at Dattner Architects. Ask questions, hear from design-build professionals, and discover about the specific benefits for architects.

DBIA’s Certification Workshop is a three-day intensive program covering the core concepts of Design-Build Done Right. This special offering for architects will identify the hurdles to engaging designers successfully in the design-build process, as well as emphasize the critical importance of design management. The course is led by architecture industry experts who have all achieved optimal outcomes utilizing design-build.

The upcoming workshop will run on three consecutive Mondays between October 20 and November 3. Dan Rawlins, DBIA, will lead session one on setting the stage for Design-Build Success, Greg Gidez, FDBIA, FAIA, NAC, will lead session two on collaborating for exceptional outcomes, and Rachel John, Esq., Assoc. DBIA, will lead session three on contracts and risk management. Participants will receive 16 HSW learning credits for days one and two and 8 learning credits for day three.

AIANY members will receive a special offer to attend this workshop, including a discounted rate and a complementary 1-year DBIA membership to explore the power of design-build collaboration. Underutilized Business Enterprises (UBEs), which include small, women-owned, minority-owned, and veteran-owned organizations, will receive an additional 50% off the registration fee using code AIANYUBE.
