Co-organized by the AIANY Global Dialogues Committee and New London Architecture (NLA), this session expands on NLA’s Adaptive Reuse publication and program and brings London and New York together to showcase examples of tower retrofits from each city, exploring existing policy surrounding adaptive reuse and the benefits and barriers that come with tower retrofit in dense urban areas. Each city will put forward an exemplary case study, presenting the ways in which adopting a retrofit approach can meet sustainability standards in tall buildings, revitalize urban areas, repurpose unused spaces and provide housing solutions. Join this NYLON event to hear from London and New York discussing the adaptive re-use of tall buildings. NLA’s latest report, Adaptive London: Reusing Existing Buildings, investigates the current barriers and opportunities surrounding retrofit and reuse across the capital, driven by best practice examples from London and globally that support the repurposing of spaces to prolong their lifespan, reduce embodied carbon and align with the government’s net zero targets. The event will take place simultaneously in London (17:00-18.30 BST) and in New York (12:00–1:30 PM EDT) via Zoom. 12:00 Welcome from NLA Chair 12:05 NY Case Study: One Madison Avenue Andrew Werner, AIA, LEED AP, Senior Associate Principal, KPF 12:10 Adaptive Reuse Policy and Planning James P.
