In 1888, the building was purchased by Edwin Booth, one of the greatest American actors of the 19th century. He transformed the townhouse into a club for actors and patrons of the arts, commissioning White to renovate the space. The result is a distinctive blend of residential warmth and institutional grandeur, creating a true cultural retreat. Our tour will include a visit to Booth’s preserved bedroom—maintained exactly as it was on the day he passed away there in 1893—offering a rare glimpse of a 19th-century home interior.
