We envisioned a future that moves beyond Euro-centric and patriarchal systems, prioritizing care, kindness and collective ways of designing and building. Almost seven years later, as we face the dawn of a second Trump administration, these core beliefs remain as vital as ever. We continue to prioritize hyper-local and accessible approaches, emphasizing a radically inclusive methodology. Our strength lies in this approach: every project begins and ends with the direct involvement of those it impacts. aanda architects is a women-owned architecture practice based in Brooklyn. We incorporated in 2022 as a merging of two previously independent practices led by Annie Barrett and Adriel Mesznik. We are currently: Annie, Adriel, Anastasia Yee, Caitlin Watson, Chi Chi Wakabayashi, Deo Deiparine, Matt Ragazzo, and Rand Abu-al-sha’r. aanda was recently recognized with a 2024 AIA New York State Design Award for our work with BPL, and our work has been published in The New York Times, Architectural Record, Wallpaper, Dwell, New York Magazine, and Log.
