Please join the AIANY Planning and Urban Design and AIANY Transportation and Infrastructure Committees for a conversation between Dan Doctoroff and Justin Davidson. Over the course of the evening, Doctoroff will reflect on his his career in the public realm, and offer lessons learned on where New York City has been and where it is potentially headed as it reinvents itself again in the coming years and decades.

Among his many professional experiences, Doctoroff will speak on the proposal for New York to host the 2012 summer Olympics which, in turn, led to Manhattan's west side rezoning. He will address his experience as Deputy Mayor for Economic Development during the Bloomberg administration where he oversaw the City's post-9/11 economic recovery and realization of major public realm projects, including Brooklyn Bridge Park and the High Line. Doctoroff will also share insight on PlaNYC and the introduction of metric-based master planning which integrates planning initiatives in all sectors with sustainability goals, which has become the standard for New York City's planning. Additionally, you can expect to hear from him on his time at Sidewalk Labs and the potential public/private collaboration in city planning. Last but not least, he will share his perspective on New York City moving forward, including congestion pricing and City of Yes.
